Cellist, composer, and EcoTones Concerts founder Jody Redhage Ferber leads Air Songs, a program of chamber jazz inspired by the exquisite melodies of bird song and the soaring of bird flight featuring improvisingviolinist Sara Caswell and vocalist/guitarist Camila Meza. The trio shares an eerie simpatico of sweeping, expressive phrasing and deep groove as they celebrate sky-dwellers and 'Beings of the Air' in repertoire by composers Jody Redhage Ferber, Alan Ferber, Chris Cheek, Marc Copland, and Caetano Veloso.

The Jody Redhage Ferber Trio (Sara Caswell, violin; Camila Meza, voice & guitar; Jody Redhage Ferber, cello) perform music from their new album EcoTones: Beings of the Air, inspired by the flying beings of the Hudson River Valley. Developed during her ongoing performance project EcoTones Concerts, Jody’s compositions and arrangements live in a transition zone between chamber music and jazz improvisation, and are inspired by the concept of ‘ecotones’ from ecology—a transition zone particularly rife with life and biodiversity. The three musicians share an eerie simpatico of phrasing, sweeping melody, and alignment of harmonic language resulting in whimsical, joyful, and expressive performances.
